Founded over 35 years ago by Sharif and Maria, Basata (which means simplicity in Arabic) is the first and most iconic eco-lodge in South Sinai. Long before eco-tourism became a trend, Basata quietly modeled what low-impact, community-rooted travel could look like.

Built from natural materials like mud brick, bamboo, and palm, the lodge blends seamlessly into its stunning location between mountains and the sea. Over the decades, it has drawn travelers seeking peace, presence, and a deeper relationship with the land—and themselves.
